Our Mahjong 101 lessons are designed for true beginners and offer a warm, approachable introduction to traditional American Mahjong using official National Mah Jongg League rules and etiquette. Whether you’ve never touched a tile or simply need a refresh, our certified instructors will guide you step-by-step through the fundamentals of gameplay in a fun, encouraging, and beautiful environment.

Lessons take place inside The Parlor at Jongee’s — our thoughtfully curated Mahjong space located on the third floor of Jongee's Gifts & Fine Furnishings. From the tablescapes to the tiles, every detail is designed to create an elevated and welcoming experience where learning feels social, relaxed, and inspiring.

During this 2.5 -3 hour lesson, you’ll learn:

• Mahjong basics & tile identification
• National Mah Jongg League rules & etiquette
• The Charleston
• How to read the card
• Basic gameplay strategy
• How to confidently sit down and play with others

All gameplay materials are provided, including luxury Mahjong sets, mats, racks, and instructional materials. Just bring yourself — and get ready to fall in love with the game and the community built around it.
